The walks may have been flat, but after 3 long days many of the group opted for a shorter final day with a visit to Bamburgh Castle (No.4) and boat trips to the Farne Islands, where Puffins and Dolphins were the star performers. In contrast, 4 people completed a varied 11 mile circular walk from the attractive market town of Rothbury, taking in the Simonside escarpment and the river Coquet. We drew our amazing 4 day trip in this outstanding location to a close at Seahouses Harbour that evening, looking out to the Farne Islands while eating take-away fish and chips; a reminder that yes, we were in the UK and not some distant exotic land.
