Weekend Trip – South SnowdoniaThursday 9th - Sunday 12th October 2025
Snowdonia is the epitome of wild, with its rugged, gnarly and craggy mountains. Its intense beauty stems from the ever-changing weather and light, and its challenging walks amidst a breathtaking landscape make this a true mecca for hikers. The hut we’ve chosen for this autumn’s big mountains trip has an absolute idylic location - providing you're prepared for the unpredictable weather – with easy access to the most famous mountain walks. There are also options for bad weather days, with valley and lake walks near Bedgellert plus pubs and cafes to soak up the Welsh culture. The hut itself is be a rather splendid example of a mountaineering club hut, with a large lounge with an open fire, a separate dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a drying room and a separate utility / boot room even. There are four bedrooms, (although one is reserved for Oread club members, unless we book the whole hut. More details can be found here: https://www.oread.co.uk/huts/tan-yr-wyddfa/ We will finalise the walking routes nearer the time; at this stage there will definitely be some full day walks (6 – 7 hours walking) which are likely be challenging due to the walk time and the terrain; if there are club members ready and able to lead lower lever / shorter walks then these will also be offered.
