Weekend Trip – Lakes, George Starkey hut, Patterdale
Thursday 25th - Sunday 28th June 2026

This is a trip to the George Starkey Hut in Patterdale. We have booked 14 places and will have a traditional Highdown trip, lots of home cooking.

The hut is just off the main road, and is easy walking distance to the local pubs and the activities of Glenridding.

Walking wise we have easy access to a Fairfield Horseshoe to the west of the hut, while to the east we have Place Fell and Beda Fell, and beyond that the High Street ridge. If you want to keep relatively low level there is the ferry to Howtown and a choice of routes back, or indeed the Ullswater Way. All without using the cars. If you want the day touristing, then spend the day exploring Ullswater by ferry. We will be doing a range of walks.

Cost for independents will be approx 100 pounds, and 150 pounds for group. If your walk leader uses the Ullswater ferry to get to a suitable start for a walk that will create additional costs.
