Day Walk – Lewes CircularSaturday 1st June 202414 miles, 2400 ft ascentStart: Free car park at Glynde bridge, GR 457 088, Lacy’s Hill, Glynde. From west, follow A27 Lewes bypass. Continue straight on at A26 roundabout, then half a mile turn left small road towards Glynde village. Pass railway station. Over bridge, Car Park on left. Loos here. You could arrive by train too. Walk will start at 09.30 am. Expected finish 4.30-5.00pm. Route: Over Mt Caburn and down to Lewes, coffee stop, more loos. Follow on towards Kingston, passing famous windmill. Steeply uphill onto downs (S Downs Way), we will have a picnic here (bring food). Along ridge, with good views and down to Rodmell. Pass Southease Church, short stop here. Over river bridge, pass YHA then final big climb up Itford Hill & Beddingham Hill. Down track, cross A27 and back to cars at Glynde. |
