Thursday 20th - Sunday 23rd April
Yorkshire Dales
Weekend Trip

A progressive walk set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. You’ll most definitely be walking in James Herriot country; in fact, just 5 miles east of our first night’s accommodation is the town of Askrigg, which doubled as the fictional village of Darrowby in the television series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.

Travelling up on the Thursday to stay at a YHA in Hawes; the walk on Friday takes us on the Pennine Way via Great Shunner Fell (3rd highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales) and then on to the village of Keld for our second night’s “luxury” Bunkbarn accommodation. Saturday sees us heading east, over to our third night’s accommodation in Low Whita near Reeth and the Sunday will be a shorter walk over to the picturesque Castle Bolton and picking up our cars before heading home.

Club veteran and treasurer Richard “Sherpa” Carlisle has very kindly agreed to “support” this trip, meaning that we will only have to carry day packs each day – but you will still have to “pack light”.
