Wednesday 25th January

Map Reading Theory

For those who may be interested I will be running a couple of basic map reading skills sessions. Nothing high level, more a general familiarisation with OS mapping at the start of the season to provide a little more confidence and enjoyment when out walking. We'll look at the information the map can provide us from the features and symbols printed, grid references as well as an introductory look at the basic use of the compass. This we'll do in the warmth of indoors with the odd beverage and nibble to hand!

We'll then do a second session on the Downs to put theory into practice - A short local walk, probably 2-3 hours, concentrating on interpreting what's on the map to what we see around us and what we're expecting to see as we walk.

Currently the planned dates are:

Wednesday 25 Jan (could change date depending on level of interest and peoples availability) - 19:30 - for the 'theory' session - 192 Goring Road, BN12 4PQ
Saturday 28 Jan - I will have to change this date due to another engagement but before deciding on another date I want to gauge interest and can then jointly agree a mutually convenient date

So if you're interested (even if you cannot make the planned dates) please get back to me so that I can firm up on dates and times etc
