Subject:                                     New Lake District self-catering lodge

 Dear Highdown Hillwalking & MC,

I am writing with regards to a new Lake District self-catering lodge that I e-mailed you about earlier in the year while it was being constructed.  It is now complete and I just wanted to re-forward your club some details as I thought you may be interested in availability for any future trips/meets you may organise.

The lodge is based in the Ullswater valley in the North East of the National Park, and is a new build among renovated farm buildings on the Distant Horizons estate.  Distant Horizons is an outdoor company that offers a variety of services from activity days to equipment hire.  Also on the estate is a private training centre with climbing wall, abseil platform and crevasse rescue & aid climb training facilities.

Lodge users will not only have the opportunity to hire the wall during the evening or day but also our canoes and sea kayaks, including delivery and collection from a location of your choice.   We can also collect and return bikes from local hirers.

The lodge is available for sole group occupancy and sleeps 12 people.  Click here to go to our web page.  The price to hire the barn is from £150 per night and includes/provides:

·         Hot water and electricity

·         Under floor heating

·         2 toilets

·         2 showers

·         Fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher

·         Patio with glass roof canopy

·         Alpine bunk room for 6 (including mattresses but not bedding)

·         Main social room with 6 drop down bunks (including mattresses but not bedding)

·         Wi Fi

·         BBQ

·         Fire pit

·         Wood (£5 per bag)

There is also plenty of space for camping close to the lodge.

The lodge is available 7 days a week over the winter with limited availability during the summer.

I am happy for you to forward the details onto your club and relevant committee members and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kindest regards,

Emma Johnson
